Rubin
Rubin (Ruby) is my first dog bred by Kasey McCarty of Fort Illio Kennels in Maine, but half of her pedigree should be very familiar to anyone who follows our team. Her grandfather, Sibersong’s Stars Hollow (“Tristan”), is related to almost every dog here. He was the dog that drew me to the working kennels of New England. His kids and grandkids have been among my best leaders, so I jumped on the opportunity to own another grandkid. I can’t wait to see her grow and join the team!

Ruby is short for Rubin, after Vera Rubin. She is known for providing convincing observational evidence for the existence of dark matter by studying galactic rotation curves, which showed that stars in the outer parts of galaxies orbit much faster than visible matter alone could explain. She was also a pioneer for women in astronomy, mentoring many young scientists and advocating for greater equality in the field.
